Here’s The Truth About Tear Gas At The Border
With outrageous comparisons of Border Patrol agents’ use of tear gas with Nazi death camps, it is time to inject some real facts in the border controversy. Fox News reports:
Federal agents used tear gas on the U.S.-Mexico border dozens of times during the Obama administration, data from the Department of Homeland Security shows, despite growing outrage at the Trump administration from Democrats for using the substance against migrant caravan members over the weekend.
According to DHS data obtained by Fox News, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency has used 2-chlorobenzylidene malononitrile, commonly known as tear gas, 126 times since 2010.
During the Obama administration, tear gas was used on the border 26 times in 2012, 27 times in 2013, 15 times in 2014, eight times in 2015, and three times in 2016. That compares to 18 times in 2017 and 29 times in 2018 during the Trump administration.
The circumstances of each incident — including the size and makeup of groups hit with tear gas, and the locations — are unclear from the data provided. Much of the outrage directed at the Trump administration stems from a photo appearing to show a mother and two children fleeing tear gas canisters on Sunday.
Tear gas is not only commonly used in riot situations throughout the world, but was used under the Obama administration at the border. But you won’t hear the Leftist media saying that.

I fully agree with the Democrats/Liberals/Leftists/Socialists we should not use tear gas on the Criminals at our boarder, I think a well placed .223 round would be mush more effective and a single round cost only a $1.50 or so.
.223 is civilian. 5.56 is military. We have punishment to fit the crime.

CS is an irritant but not normally lethal. Over a period of more than twenty – six years I was exposed to CS more times than I care to remember. I am still in excellent health. If a person is exposed to CS the best thing they can do is move quickly to an area of fresh air and flush the eye and face with copious amounts of water. They will be fine in a few minutes. Also recommend a shower as soon as possible and shampoo. Also wash the clothes that were worn. In the picture that was shown there was a single canister and the smoke was flowing parallel to the wall in the background. The CS was obviously a low concentration and quickly dissipating. All the woman and her children would have to have done is walk upwind of the canister and cross over behind it. No one else in the picture appeared to be bothered by it. CS is an irritant and deterrent but in an open area no one is likely to suffer any long term effects from it.
Sounds like it was okay for Obama to use tear gas and not a word was said, but since it’s our President of this country who is trying to protect our country, it’s not alright to use tear gas.
