Bipartisan Coalition Rallies In Defense of Paul Manafort

Law Hammer Justice Right Court Horizontal

Paul Manafort has been transferred from federal custody to the infamous Rykers Island in solitary confinement on request from a New York judge. The Daily Caller reports:

The decision to send one of the highest-profile Trump campaign members prosecuted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller to New York CIty’s infamous Rikers Island jail has stunned many in the legal community — and even some Democrats not normally sympathetic toward Mueller targets.

Fox News reported earlier this week that Paul Manafort, who served as President Trump’s campaign chairman, is being transferred from a federal prison to New York City’s Rikers Island, notorious for gang violence and housing some of the most infamous violent offenders. A state judge ordered the transfer at the request of New York City District Attorney Cy Vance, Jr., who is pursuing a case against Manafort involving alleged residential mortgage fraud, falsified business records and more.

Criminal defense attorneys swiftly slammed the decision.

“It is yet another example of the weaponization of the criminal process for partisan advantage,” defense attorney Alan Dershowitz wrote in an opinion piece for Fox News. The Harvard Law professor emeritus speculated that Manhattan prosecutors are intentionally putting Manafort in tough conditions in order to prod him to work with them as state officials investigate President Trump.

This is an egregious violation of Paul Manafort’s rights, who has already had his day in court and is serving his time. Manafort might be the one suffering in this instance, but many more are in this condition with it not being publicized. It’s time for more humane treatment in our prisons.

I find this totally disgusting and inhumane. The Demo rats/Liberal slime dogs will stop at nothing, I mean nothing, to make people miserable, this is inhumane.

I think when the House of Cards finally falls, these crooked, corrupt politicians should go to Riker Island if they aren’t already going to Gitmo. Manafort has a halo compared to some of these evil, corrupt, treasonous a$$holes. There was absolutely zero reasons why he should have been sent there!

Since Manafort has been sentenced why can’t Trump do something to get him out of prison, he was a loyal man and NY is trying to force him to admit something illegal that Trump did which he won’t do because it is BS, he is in danger at Rikers he is not a violent person but he is surrounded by violent people and they may take a dislike to him

I read that his charges by Mueller had already been exonerated by another jury years before. Why did he get such harsh treatment from Mueller when he was still not charged at the start? This is all too much and these charges should be dropped but given to Mueller himself.he charged others before when they were innocent and just recently one of them received money from a court for wrongly being charged. Get Manafort out of jail and put in the real crooks, all those doing this.
