Former Acting AG and Obama Holdover Sally Yates Calls Trump’s Travel Ban Unlawful
Former acting Attorney General and a holdover from the Obama administration Sally Yates slammed President Trump’s travel ban and called it unlawful as she defended her decision to not defend the ban.
According to The Washington Free Beacon:
Yates is widely considered a frontrunner for attorney general should Democratic nominee Joe Biden prevail in the November election. She is also immediately adjacent to two of the Trump era’s greatest controversies: the president’s travel ban and the surveillance of Trump associates during the 2016 campaign.
Advertisement“I was fired for refusing to defend President Trump’s shameful and unlawful travel ban,” Yates said. “That was the start of his relentless attacks on our democratic institutions and countless dedicated public servants.”
“He’s trampled the rule of law, trying to weaponize our Justice Department to attack his enemies and protect his friends,” she added.
A subsequent iteration of the ban was upheld by the Supreme Court in 2018. Those travel sanctions have since been modified and expanded. The justices first allowed the travel restrictions to take effect while legal fights unfolded in 2017, albeit on a limited basis.
When the ban first came down Yates was more cerebral, saying she “wasn’t convinced” the order could be defended.

Sally Yates is a die hard Democrat. That is why she insisted the travel ban was unconstitutional and we see how that worked out for her. God help us if she becomes the AG. She is way to partisan to be in any position requiring ethics because she has none.
As I remember it, it was Obama who selected the countries to be banned.

The two most important words in that headline are “Former” and “Acting”. Second, the courts didn’t think it was unlawful. Third, Sally has to make this assertion, because otherwise the alternative is she was insubordinate by failing to carry out a legal order.
I certainly wouldn’t credit Yates with any informatiin as I would very much doubt her honesty.
Best to leave well enough alone!

So, a travel ban is unlawful, but forcing Americans to wear masks, seat belts, etc. is okay? Every one of the clowns associated with Obama, in fact every Democrat, needs to go back to elementary school to learn what freedom & independence actually mean.
