Anonymous Oped Shakes Up Washington Talks
The Daily Caller took an unprecedented step by publishing an anonymous oped by a high ranking official in support of President Trump’s shutdown. Here’s an extract of the story:
As one of the senior officials working without a paycheck, a few words of advice for the president’s next move at shuttered government agencies: lock the doors, sell the furniture, and cut them down.
Federal employees are starting to feel the strain of the shutdown. I am one of them. But for the sake of our nation, I hope it lasts a very long time, till the government is changed and can never return to its previous form.
AdvertisementThe lapse in appropriations is more than a battle over a wall. It is an opportunity to strip wasteful government agencies for good.
On an average day, roughly 15 percent of the employees around me are exceptional patriots serving their country. I wish I could give competitive salaries to them and no one else. But 80 percent feel no pressure to produce results. If they don’t feel like doing what they are told, they don’t.
The shutdown will hurt a lot of federal workers, but this could be an opportunity for conservatives to start slashing wasteful government spending.
Sounds like a good plan……
I think we should cut in half Congress salaries, limit their service to 2 terms and terminate Life time benefits, also Limit Pension to 2 years, after that they are on their own!!,….NO Life Time Pensions!!,…We should also review all salaries pensions and “Life time” Benefits for The Senate and Government Employees at all Level!!,….We got to make sure they EARN their Pay, that’s if they want to work for US!!,…
Absolutely!!!!!
Sounds good to me. Why are we so worried about federal workers over the thousands or million Americans who are suffering deaths, rapes, murders, thefts and much more because of illegals coming over the borders. This is not to even mention that many Americans cannot afford health care because illegals can get it for nothing. Social Security and Medicare is going broke because we give it away to those who aren’t citizens. Let the federal workers get jobs and pay for their health care.
and to remind them that they are public servants !
Then we would get rid of the Dictators and Deadwood in Congress.
I’m agree with you completely. The current CONGRESS IS THE PROBLEM, NOT THE SOLUTION. In addition I worked for over 30 years as an private sector independent contractor so I worked in the public sectors right next to “government employees”. While I was required to be productive 5, 8 hour days per week government employees are only expected to be productive 3.5 hours per day. This can be verified by anyone that worked with these government workers (aka taxpayer parasites). And in addition Trump was absolutely correct with his comment about most government workers are democrats. Civil Service was created as a liberal democrat jobs program decades ago. It becomes a multi-generational thing just like welfare.
Correct! Checked!
I will probably catch flack over this . . . but has anyone ever noticed how the Postal Service employees do their work ? For the majority of them not doing anything not identified as “their job” even to help out another employee is absolutely not done. While in the private sector helping each other regardless of who’s job it is, is SOP ! If we could eliminate the guaranteed job security of government employees and have required production schedules with pay raises at least partially based on performance would double the output of government facilities ! I think this shut down might prove we can get along with far less people !
It would be very informative if during this “this partial shutdown of only 25% of government employees” statistics could be collected to exactly find out how many of these government workers are really needed. I suspect government civil service employment at all levels is highly redundant. If they are productive 4 hours a day it would be a miracle.
Ditto on what elgavila and Bill said. Thank goodness our President has helped over 4 million jobs get started in our excellent economy. The unpaid government workers can now easily transition to the new job offer of their choice. I will choose the wall, which will save American lives, over the status quo which has been a nightmare to great American citizens for years.
Well stated, if they don’t want to contribute in one of the best jobs there is, go to Venezuela and work!! I for one taxpayer am fed up with all the waste and where our taxes end up!
Government civil service was created as a “jobs program for liberals” from it’s inception. I would like to know how many TSA employees are not democrats.
Finally the elephant in the room is outted. The government does not need those who are not productive and there is far too much dead weight as this one man has identified. He is so right. And these pansies don’t have a clue about the real work market. Everyday anyone in the private sector has to deal with the fact that they can be out of work with a pink slip at any time especially now a days thanks to the visa foreign workers and illegal aliens and cult of death priviledged mooslimes. Disneyland did that for cheaper foreign labor in Bozo’s time.
Shut it down and keep it that way until the dem wits are ready to build the whole damn wall. And then consider who should be terminated to downsize the government, a bloated monster. That is one more agenda that I can support!
Our tax money should not support the lifestyles of those in our gov’t now that refuse to do what is needed for the betterment of our country. Pictures of the walls at Nancy’s were shown on another site,if she is that rich she is a crook. She doesn’t care about Americans that are getting family members killed because we have no defined border to keep out those that want in illegally. They only want to come now since the D’s along with those behind them want their votes to stay in office,Nancy wants her secure life but doesn’t care if others are safe.
Having lived in Washington, DC most of my life and having worked for the federal and local governments, this OpEd is right on target. 20% of the people do 80% of the work. Major cutbacks would benefit everyone.
The so called “shut Down” affects 14% of the DC swamp!! They are NON ESSENTIAL personal meaning they do paperwork for the ONE % that make our lives more complected!! IF they need to fill one of the jobs that this President created by cutting 23,000 regulations that MOST are NEVER affected by then I say let them go and CUT ALL DEPARTMENTS!! IF we cut 3% off of EVERY department we can balance the F”ING budget!!
The slaackers won’t quit and get another job they sit on their butts and do nothing yet they draw an overpaid salary, so why would they quit when they are guaranteed to be paid the salary they missed by the shutdown
The fact is with most workers sitting in front of computer screens what they are really using those computers for is not known. In the private sector there are walls put up by management to prevent employees from accessing non work related applications. Public employees are not monitored.
I would certainly hope, that they have enough (emergency)food & cash for
several months. how about 6 mos.( at least) .
The government shutdown is for non essential services which should be privatized. We, the taxpayers, should not have to pay for non essential services which if necessary, could be better conducted by private industry which would most likely pass the cost of doing business on to those who use their services. Our federal government is much larger than necessary and this would be a good time for privatization of many agencies and reducing the size of many others. Other savings would result by the elimination of agencies which have been used by politicians to punish citizens or are merely not necessary. These agencies include the federal dept of indoctrination (used to be education), the e.p.a., the c.i.a. and the f.d.a. to name a few.
Of course they want it to last a very long time, it’s a paid vacation and they are no doubt collecting workers compensation and or welfare.
Agreed. The givemint was given one primary function and that is protection of this country, period. They’ve stolen many other unintended ones and continue to ignore the spending with no intention of ever balancing the budget again and t his means BOTH sides of Congress although I will agree the Dumbascraps are the worst offenders. All will ignore the spending and attempt to dig into the piggy bank (taxpayers) pockets more.
Almost all of the alphabet agencies created by Congress could and should be eliminated. These agencies were created so that Congress really doesn’t have any real responsibilities. The most basic of responsibilities is to prepare and pass a budget. The government doesn’t even do that anymore. The use their invention of a “continuing resolution” which eliminates their having to actually discuss, debate and vote on every single penny the government will spend.
A shame President Trump cant shut down both houses…
This description of federal workers sounds like the California highway department. Many times while in CA I come across work crews and almost always there are 9 standing around watching 2.
Typical.
All this BS, bevause Nancy and Chuck are unwilling to spend less than 15 cents per $100 budgeted for 2019. Partisan nonsensense at its worst.
Do away with wasteful government spending? Easy fix. Get rid of Congress…
