Trump’s New Press Rules Revealed

President Trump has revealed the new rules for press interactions with White House officials. The Washington Examiner reports:

The decision by U.S. District Court Judge Timothy Kelly in Cable News Network v. Donald J. Trump ordering the White House to restore the press pass of reporter Jim Acosta has been hailed as a victory not only for CNN but for the entire press and the cause of journalism. But the end result of Kelly’s ruling, and of the CNN lawsuit, might not be happy for reporters and the news organizations that employ them.

The transcript of the Nov. 16 court session in which Kelly delivered his oral ruling was released in group of court papers on Monday. Kelly declared that the White House could not eject Acosta without first providing him due process — specifically, notice of the revocation of his press pass, a chance for Acosta to respond, and a written decision.

In short, the judge said to the White House: You can’t throw out a reporter without going through a process. But if you go through a process — which you, the White House, can design — then you can throw the reporter out. In the end, it could be that Kelly’s ruling will make it easier for the White House to oust reporters in the future — and to make the decision stick.

Throughout the court session, Kelly referred to the only real precedent in the Acosta matter, a 1977 case from the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals called Sherrill v. Knight. In that case, the court ruled that the White House — specifically the Secret Service — could not deny a press pass to a “bona fide journalist” without due process. The court defined due process as “procedures whereby an applicant is given notice of the evidence upon which the Secret Service proposes to base its denial, [and] the journalist is afforded an opportunity to rebut or explain this evidence, and the Secret Service issues a final written decision specifying the reasons for its refusal to grant a press pass.”

This will enable President Trump and future presidents to stop activist “journalists” from hijacking press conferences, and restore some decorum to those conferences.

The rule is…..dont act like a dick. Or you get chucked after due process. I hope the rest of the WH press corp gave Acosta a blanket party behind some bushes in the rose garden after what he has caused for them. Serves him right if they did and serves the rest of them as well with this new process.
Has anybody else noticed its always the peckerheads who ruin for everybody else?

Rules are easy, if you read the comment here and on other sites.
1. Each reporter is entitled to one question, unless a follow-up is allowed by the speaker.
2. After question, mic will be handed to the press aide, to be handed to next questioner.
3. After mic is handed to aide, sit down and listen.
Fi rules not followed, press time will end, or the speaker will thank everyone, and depart. thus ending the session. And those who do not get chance to ask a question, will know who to blame. Speaker (who ever) will be respected, and reporters will enforce civility, or lose press releases. Will have to gain info from internet or other means. What is so difficult to understand. Most adults realize that without written rules.

I was with you right up the point where you stated “Most adults realize that without written rules” You failed to take into consideration “The Acosta Factor”. You see when you are full of yourself as Acosta, these rules do not apply. Why because he is not an “Adult”. He is a misguided, spoiled child who thinks that he whole world is just waiting for his next comment or statement.

“Due Process” is a term used in cases of potential criminal cases s nothing to do with Press Conferences. It seems to me that this judge (liberal activist anti-Trump hack) had better learn the rules related to a judges authority.

The judge found that ” The White House — specifically the Secret Service — could not deny a press pass to a ‘bona fide’ journalist” Right there is reason enough to deny Acosta a pass, he may be a lot of things but he is certainly not a journalist.
So now the President will write up a bunch of rules and make them available to the press corp and then I give it a week, then the Secret Service will throw Acosta out, same results just takes a bit longer.

The rules should be:
If you make an ass of yourself (See Acosta Video) you will be ejected
If you continue to talk even if it is not your turn (See Acosta video) you will be ejected
If you ask questions that have nothing to do with the reason for the press conference,(See Acosta video) you will be ejected
If your name is Jim Acosta you will be ejected

A wise opinion by Judge Kelly, whom the MSM painted as an inept choice by Trump upon recommending Judge Kelly to his district federal court. Certainly, grounds for permanent dismissal of Acosta become far more solid based upon Judge Kelly’s reasoning.
Now, it’s up to Acosta who needs to exude politeness and courteous attitude to the White House which literally holds Acosta’s nasty, rude, behavior in WH Press sessions to necessary changes of his uncontrolled behavior, or he will fracture his relationship to Press Meeting attendance. Acosta has brought on that difficult behavior by his own disruptive standards, as he expects a positive reception for himself no matter how he behaves. If he cannot abide by accepted behavior as established for all of the the attending Press ,he will maneuver himself past the point of redemption for Press Cards deemed to be invalid for cause.

A reporter may ask 1 question, then hand the mike over to the Intern. If he wishes to respond to the questions answer, he may have one chance. After that if he is rude again or hogs the mike or speaks out of turn OUT 🙂 Brilliant. The judge actually ahs given the President the opening he needed. Cant stump Trump <3 <3 <3

Why even allow any liberal news media in white house, they never tell the truth anyway. They wouldn’t know the truth if it slapped them in the face. I don’t watch CNN, NBC, CBS, MSNBC or ABC.
