Trump Admin Hits Turkey With Sanctions

President Trump has announced that the United States has imposed sanctions on Turkey for its actions in Syria.

According to The Daily Wire:

President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he is imposing sanctions on Turkey over their invasion into Syria, saying: “I am fully prepared to swiftly destroy Turkey’s economy if Turkish leaders continue down this dangerous and destructive path.”

Trump’s statement comes after Turkey invaded northern Syria following the president’s decision to pull U.S. troops back from the area.

Defense Secretary Mark Esper told CBS News’ Margaret Brennan Sunday on “Face The Nation” that the decision to pull the troops back came after the administration learned that Turkey was planning on invading the area, regardless if U.S. forces were present.

“It became very clear to me that the Turks were fully committed to conducting this incursion. And I think Secretary Pompeo would tell you the same. I know General Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has heard the same,” Esper said. “The Turks were committed to doing this. This should not be a surprise. If you go back in time to when we first began this relationship with the- with the Syrian Kurds at that time in 2014 the Turks were protesting at that moment.”

Reports have surfaced that Turkey is committing serious atrocities against the Kurds in Northern Syria.

You can’t trust the middle East countries, they always have agreed to one thing only to totally disregard the agreement.

I just wonder how many dear Kurds that this sanction BS that Trump started will bring back to life. Trump is doing what Russia has been trying to do for 50 years, and it has only taken Trump less than 3 years to accomplish Putin’s work for him. Discrediting the USA and making it so our allies will not trust any thing the USA says or does.

@Robert – It’s not about Trust…but Thumbing his nose at the War-Mongering Cabal.
These people are fighting TRIBAL wars, over land. And you know what?? I’m sick and tired of our Tax Dollars paying for WARS we have no business fighting. These people can fight each other over land masses…and cities, but these are NOT OUR FIGHTS. We have no business there. We went into Syria for 30 days…same shite. And how many years have we been there? It’s about LAND that is NOT HERE. WTH are we doing there, even for support??
THIS IS ABOUT THE ELITES NEEDING WARS TO MAKE THEIR TRILLIONS, AND WHERE DO THEY GET IT?? FROM THE U.S.A. TAXES. Let that sink in for awhile.

Robert have you lived in Turkey? I lived in Karamursel, Turkey for five years on a joint US-Turkish military base. The hate between the Turks and Kurds are centuries old. Personally I’ve expected the Turks and Kurds to be fighting each other for some time. Anytime the Kurds get too close to the Turkish border skirmishes break out. Apparently the Turks feel this was time to strike again. With the opportunity to push the Kurds back I think nothing short of an all out war on Turkey would have prevent this. I don’t think Erdogan was concerned about the US forces on the ground.
The beautiful Turkey we loved has slowly disappeared. The Turkish government has increasingly become more Muslim than the moderate western government of Ataturk. The centuries of hate by the different culture groups, tribes and countries will probably never cease. These battles have gone since Biblical times. We are fooling ourselves of we think we can prevent these actions in that part of the world.

Let’s not forget that the Sunnis and Shias have been fighting a religious war for control of Islam for over 1,300 years. Perhaps it is time to allow them to reduce their numbers. It is unfortunate that the Kurds are caught in the middle of their war but sacrificing more American lives to protect them has to end. I believe our President had a tough decision but he listened to his battlefield commanders. I have no doubt that Turkey will regret their decision.

We need to stop paying for their military if they are getting involved with Russians. We’ve done it since WWll and since they hate Americans so much, why do we continue?

Nothing but BS in a big way, Turkey’s president would not go to war with the USA, so if Trump had sent in say 1000 troops and created a no fly zone Turkey would have talked tough but would never engage the USA. The US has done it with Russia and many other countries and never were wrong, showing our moral commitment to stand by our allies.

Hey dumb ass the Kurds are not allies they were trained by us funded by and fought by us they aren’t allies just people who wanted to rid of isis now they eat us to fight for 20 miles of sand as a Vet I say hell NO!!!! Don’t see these countries paying for the soldiers injuries however trump made the saudis pay for US protection so if people want our help they should pay not tax payers we were suppose to be there for 30 days now going on ten years would have been over quicker if Obama would have let us kill them ITS TIME TO PROTECT OUR BORDERS

It wouldn’t make any difference whether the US troops are there or not it would just mean more American lives lost, besides Trump made it very plain that he was pulling the troops out of the mid east when he took office, so why are people saying he has suddenly pulled them, it has taken at least two years for him to bring our boys and girls home at last he has kept his promise
