Trump Selects Next Top Warfighter
President Trump has selected his next top warfighter, Army Chief of Staff Mark Milley. The Washington Examiner reports:
President Trump is set to nominate Army Gen. Mark Milley to be the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, according to The New York Times.
Milley already sits on the Joint Chiefs as the Army chief of staff, and he would replace current chairman Gen. Joseph Dunford as the country’s top uniformed officer. Dunford’s term is set to expire next fall.
AdvertisementThe president had teased the move on Friday morning, saying he would make an announcement about the Joint Chiefs when he attends this weekend’s Army-Navy football game.
“I have another one for tomorrow I will be announcing at the Army-Navy game. It will have to do with the Joint Chiefs of Staff and succession. I look forward to telling you, and I will see you later,” Trump said as he was leaving the White House for a trip to Missouri.
The selection of Milley could be interpreted as a strategic direction for President Trump, focusing more on land power than the other services. The Air Force in particular has not held the position since 2005, which could lead to resentment on the service’s part.

I have never seen any information or rules that state the head of the JCOS has to rotate from service to service in order that it be “fair & equal” , something which the jackass liberals always cry about.

Typical comment from some writer who has absolutely no clue what the JCOS are all about, nor the actual role these appointees play. The CiC (President Trump) has full authority to choose the Chief of the joint Chiefs, and I’m sure he’s received considerable advice on who that should be. Don’t try to read politics into every freakin decision that this President makes!
Dear Mr President, Why would you fund Welfare at Billions of Dollars to keep them not working? They are the Useless Feeders of America that refuse to work so whey should we the people give them our tax dollars. Then, on the other hand, you refuse to pay into our Social Security that our Government has taken money out of our S.S. to pay down the debt and other things? We the Retirees of America have worked our entire lives and have paid into Social Security so that we would have it for us and not for Obama and his Government officials to steal so they can live their lavish lives. There are some ignorant and very bias people writing on this blog; i.e., people like G. Giant. Who commented above on a mishap that happened in time of conflict. You need to educate yourself on the issue of what can happen during time of war. In fact, this very incident happened when Obama was president because it happened in October 2015.
Who cares which service from which the ‘Top Dog’ comes, other then the ‘elbow throwers’ vying for mere status? What matters is we have the very best leadership at the top to manage the ‘art of violence’, so we lose the fewest of those who serve, by having someone next to Our President who will help assist in making the smartest decisions possible. You can bet that the most people at risk are ground troops and as it is important to have our great pilots flying huge ‘air taxis’ to move things – and people – in and out of high risk areas to keep troops well-supplied and move those who can no longer fight – out and home to their families. But – it is the rough and tough ground troops that are doing the heavy lifting with extended stays, long family separations, and weeding out the nastiest of terrorists who want nothing more than to kill as many our soldiers and civilians as they can. Every one of these terrorists that are ‘removed’ makes the world just a little less dangerous. It just makes sense to have someone with a hard-wired connection to those who stay on the ground there to fight – a commander of ground troops as ‘General Manager’.
