President Trump Unveils New Immigration Plan
The White House has rolled out a new immigration plan that would limit immigration from low skilled workers and instead focus on merit based selection. Fox News reports:
The White House is set to unveil a sweeping new plan that would radically transform the makeup of immigrants in the United States, ending the visa lottery program and implementing a comprehensive merit-based admissions procedure, three senior administration officials told Fox News on Wednesday.
The move would more than quadruple the number of immigrants admitted because of their work-related skills, while dramatically slashing the number of immigrants admitted because of family ties. Currently, approximately 12 percent of immigrants are admitted based on employment and skills, while 66 percent are admitted based on family connections.
Those percentages, under the new plan, would shift to 57 percent and 33 percent, respectively. Ten percent of immigrants would be admitted on humanitarian or other grounds, but the plan would end the visa lottery program.
In its place: a new “Build America Visa” program that would recognize “extraordinary talent” and “people with professional and specialized vocations,” including exceptional students, Fox News has learned.
This form of merit based immigration, instead of family chain migration, will make the United States more competitive across the world and bring it in line with practices of other nations.

I get tired of talking to foreingers whose accent I can’t understand when I try to get my internet connection straightened out or anything else I have to do on the phone. What’s wrong with hiring Americans? I am not for the RAISE ACT or anything else that will increase immigration for any group of people. And how does this bill stop the flow of illegals flooding our border? It won’t even make a dent in it. Stop it! You’re conning us!
Agree on not understanding them, but unfortunately the younger generation either don’t want to work or don’t want to be paid $12-15/hour. Whereas the others coming in will take that kind of pay.
I don’t really like this plan because all it is going to bring in are the Indians who we can’t understand, or asians which are OK, unless they are Chinese spies. We need to entice French, Belgiums, Germans, Italians. Any from the Russian satellite countries bring the mob with them, so don’t really care from them. It’s a tricky situation. I’m curious to see how the House responds to this.

BUT, we have up to 40 million, yes MILLION, ILLEGALS occupying this country and sucking up benefits – Education, medical using the ERs as their regular medical services, housing, food stamps and much, much more! Should be a limit on getting on any government program for illegals two years max and if the do not shoe proof of income they and their immediate family get a bus ticket in Mexico to go home. We will get you to the border. If you come in legally you cannot get on a government program for 5 years your sponsor has to take care of you
There is an ongoing genocide of the white people in South Africa and they should be given high priority if they wish to immigrate into our country. They are being slaughtered because they are farmers who own agricultural land and they have white skin. Most likely they have work related skills, would be an asset to our country and would assimilate quiet easily into our culture.

Cut the number of legal immigrants coming via all programs as well as almost entirely closing the door on the refugee program. We are currently getting one million legal immigrants per year which should be reduced to no more than 250,000. Instead of quadrupling high tech workers admissions, HIRE AMERICANS!!!!
Then if this immigration plan takes hold, we will be getting more of the people who are educated in places where education is paid for by the state and it will still put the USA college people at a disadvantage, because when they get out they have heavy debt, and since we will not let any low level workers in the country the price of every thing will go up to where our corporations will not be internationally competitive and will go under. The who thing is a loose loose for the USA and its population, most here just looking at their problems not looking at the whole picture of what it will do to this country. Uneducated immigrants made this country the great Country it is, now we want to kick them out.
