McCarthy Throws Cold Water on Impeachment Chatter
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) shut down the hypothetical from some House Republicans looking beyond midterms.
McCarthy, who is aiming to become Speaker if Republicans take back the House, promised oversight actions and investigations into the Biden administration. Of particular interest is his handling of border and immigration policies and the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, which was immediately overwhelmed by the Taliban.
But McCarthy stopped short of aligning with other House Republicans who have called for more serious action.
“One thing we learned that the Democrats did is they – they used impeachment for political reason,” McCarthy told Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo after being asked about impeachment.
Representatives Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Randy Weber (R-TX), Bill Posey (R-FL) and Bob Gibbs (R-OH) have previously introduced articles of impeachment against Biden.
“We believe in the rule of law,” McCarthy continued. “We’re not going to pick and choose just because somebody has power. We’re going to uphold the law. At any time, if someone breaks the law and the ramification becomes impeachment, we would move towards that. But we’re not going to use it for political purposes.”
Still, McCarthy said last year that Biden will face “a day of reckoning” over the administration’s failure in Afghanistan.

so selling political access to ones-self to our adversaries for millions of dollars to your family is the “rule of law” ? So Russia and China are going to give the Biden family that much money and not expect anything in return ?
