Trump Signs Executive Order Ending Special Status for Hong Kong

President Trump has signed an executive order ending the special status for Hong Kong. The move ends any differing distinction between China and Hong Kong.

According to The Washington Free Beacon:

The announcement follows China’s aggressive takeover of Hong Kong’s levers of power via a new national security law. The law expands Chinese authority to extradite political dissidents and cracks down on the political culture in Hong Kong such that it will more closely resemble the Beijing regime.

Since 1992, the United States has maintained a special relationship with Hong Kong codified in law. While China upheld the “One Country, Two Systems” policy with regard to Hong Kong, the State Department recognized Hong Kong’s free market and legal institutions as different from those of Beijing and attempted to foster growth through trade.

China’s increasing imposition of its model of governance on Hong Kong has led the Trump administration to rethink this policy. Washington intends its pivot to act as punishment for China’s “oppressive” treatment of Hong Kong, the president said.

Trump also cited China’s intellectual property fraud, military buildup, hijacking of multilateral organizations, and manipulation of international trade as reasons to alter relations with the communist regime. No country has ever “ripped off” the United States like China, the president said. He added that he has “no plans” to speak with Chinese president Xi Jinping.

Hong Kong is now China in the administration’s purview and will not have any special distinctions moving forward.

They are terrorists, at least biological terrorists. Any thinking that the Covid-19 release was an escape is DemonRat thinking along with the MSM.

Now that Communist China has gotten in bed with Iran they should also be classified as a Terrorist Organization. All Communist Chinese Students and Professors should have their visas rescinded and they along with all members of the Confucius Institutes in all colleges and universities should be returned to Communist China as soon as possible.

It is a fundamental mistake to think that China is our enemy. For more than 150 years, China has been beset by colonial wars leading to the collapse of it Emperor, Opium wars leading to the collapse of its industry, World War 2 with its ravishment by Japan and the takeover of Communism with the loss of Taiwan, and finally the famines and cultural revolution of Mao, where maybe 60 million Chinese starved to death. Perhaps the Pendulum of History has swung too far, but a strong, prosperous and happy China is good for the world.

Ben B., agreed. CHINA’s people have been through hell during the twentieth century, but communism is an anchor around their neck. Possibly their deceitful attitude comes from decades of hatred for the West and everyone else who usurped them. Just the same, communist doctrine and militaristic saber-rattling, as well as naval blockades and harrassments will only lead to their disenfranchisement once again. Maoism is dead or dying swiftly. Young Chinese realize that collectivism is a terrible existance when compared to individualism. FREEDOM is interesting and exciting to many young Chinese.
