Ending the Economic Harm Caused by Our Immigration System

LOW-SKILLED LABOR: The United States has seen an inflow of low-skilled labor through both our legal immigration system and illegal aliens entering our country through its porous borders.

  • Our immigration system’s prioritization of family relations over merit, education level, or skill has allowed a wave of low-skilled labor into our country.
    • More than two-thirds of the legal immigrant admissions into the United States each year are admitted based on family relations rather than merit or skill.
  • The United States grants up to 50,000 visas each year through the visa lottery program, which has only a few educational and skill requirements.
  • Lapses in our border security contribute to the inflow of low-skilled labor into the United States.
    • Illegal aliens in the United States often have low educational attainment levels and are employed in low-skill jobs.
  • As of 2015, a majority of all immigrants in the United States over the age of 25, here legally or illegally, had a high school education or less.
    • 29 percent of U.S. immigrants over the age of 25 had received less than a high school education.
  • For years, low-skilled immigration into the U.S. has put downward pressure on wages at the expense of vulnerable American workers.
    • Real hourly wages for Americans with a high school education or less are lower than in 1979.

A STRAIN ON PUBLIC RESOURCES: The influx of low-skilled labor into the U.S. has put a strain on public resources and burdened American taxpayers.

  • The rate of low-skilled immigration into the United States serves as a driver of the high usage of welfare programs among immigrant-headed households.
    • A majority, 51 percent, of immigrant-headed households uses at least one welfare program.
  • The relatively high use of welfare programs by immigrant-headed households puts a strain on programs designed to help the most vulnerable Americans.

IMMIGRATION REFORM TO BENEFIT THE AMERICAN ECONOMY: President Trump has proposed an immigration framework that would stem the tide of low-skilled immigration into our country, benefiting American workers and the economy.

  • President Trump’s immigration framework lays out the steps we must take to finally secure our borders.
  • The President’s framework would curb the flow of low-skilled workers into the U.S. by ending extended-family chain migration, while still protecting the nuclear family.
  • President Trump’s framework would end the visa lottery program and reallocate some of the visas to help reduce backlog of high-skilled, employment-based immigrant cases.

Send ALL illegal aliens back to where they came from — illegal is illegal, and means NOT LAWFUL. Doesn’t anybody know the difference between legal and illegal?
Let those wishing to emigrate to the USA apply lawfully, and then we can choose which ones we want which would serve our country best. We don’t want the illiterate scum of all the third world countries in the world. We must be the ones who choose who comes into this country.

So glad to see a website with most of the Presidents accomplishments listed as well as his speeches. I learned some things I didn’t know even though I am an avid FOX news channel listener. I just hope this gets out to many of those who don’t have time to watch TV.

I agree with this outline and am grateful President Trump stands with American citizens and taxpayers. We were all immigrants at some point; but choose a legal path and asked for only the opportunity to seek success. Not arrive with a list of free things and ongoing welfare required, while waving the flag of the country we left and showing disrespect the the USA.
First we as a country need to see to our people’s needs, our Military, and improve our infrastructure . If when we succeed in those areas and have monies and space; we can offer charity to those who truly want to become citizens and help us make America great. Again.

Persons choosing to teach our children must agree to be fingerprinted. Is it reasonable to insist that persons found to be in the US in violation of existing laws should be fingerprinted?

If you want to end the harm of illegal immigrants: SEND THEM ALL BACK WHERE THEY
CAME FROM! That should just about take care of the problem!

We need to quit giving illegal immigrants incentives to come here. Last year Los Angeles, California spent 1.3 Billion dollars for welfare to illegal immigrants. That is just one city. Why do our representatives provide illegal immigrants (Law Breakers) with this? They should be arrested and jailed for aiding and abetting criminals. This program of providing taxpayer funded money to criminals has got to stop. It’s like a magnet and only gives incentive to lure illegals to this country. America is a Republic, not a Socialistic, open border one. End it now.

Every problem in our country is rooted in illegal immigration. Whether it be lack of quality health care, crime, unemployment, poor education system . . . . you name it! End illegal immigration and order in our country returns. I do not have much hope for our country’s survival, though, as long as the Democrats need the “illegals’ ” votes.

It’s a start but still not enough. Welfare for non-citizen families regardless of where their children were born needs to be discontinued. And e-verify needs to be a part of the law of the land. Those two additional steps coupled with what is put forth above will COMPLETELY shut down the magnets that encourage the problem

I think we first before any deals are made we must finish the border fence first. There cannot be any way around this. If you go and make deals the fence will never get done as democrats will remove the funding as they have done in the past. All amnesty and no border fence like what we got in 2006. So the fence must come first and then we talk . No fence then no deals. We the people have been lied to so many times this what must happen now. Fence first. No deals until it’s finished.

My wife of 50 years, Marie, and I have been solid Trump supporters from the day he announced his candidacy. We both trace our direct-line family tree to pre-Revolutionary war living in America and in Alabama since it became a State. We strongly advocate enforcement of immigration laws.
I am a retired police supervisor so I feel that fair enforcement instead of totally technical enforcement should take the politics out of the issue. I have many relatives who legally immigrated from Mexico after my uncle married a Mexican lady just after the Korean war.
One of my brothers married a lady from Thailand and she recently got her American citizenship.
Marie & I have a daughter-in-Law, Amber, who has been awaiting approval of the renewal of her Green-Card for over a year now. She came to America from Canada at age 4 when her mother married an American working there. She went to grammar-school & high-school here in Alabama. Her original Green-Card expired when she was 14 and the family didn’t have the $1200 + for the renewal for her mother, brother & herself. She got married, had 3 children, and got divorced before marrying my son (who is old enough to be her father). They had financial troubles and moved to Georgia where they both found jobs. Marie & I gave them the money & insisted that she apply for renewal of her Green-Card since she could not apply for citizenship without it.
We are confident that President will continue to make America great again; build the wall & deport the illegal immigrants without standing on technicalities to the absurd….

How beneficial would it be to screen the illegal immigrants and distinguish those
who are making a contribution vs. those that are very comfortable accessing all
the tax-payer benefits without contributing. I have heard 90,000 children arrived
without parents in the last year and were distributed even in Alaska and Hawaii.

OTHER than shoddy POLITICAL reasons (uneducated votes), President Trump’s immigration proposal is LONG OVERDUE. It’s about time immigrants to the United States brought something other than a sincere desire to get on the welfare rolls. What’s that old democratic war cry — “ask NOT what your country can do for you but rather, what YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY”

Spot on there Larry OBrien – we have all seen our tech manufacturing voicing their concern about not enough sharp, entry level people with skills to fill the available positions. Worse, there are not enough who can get past testing for the potential to learn them due to a lack of basic Reading, Writing, Comprehension, and Math. This of course dovetails with a related issue, which Our President Trump called for in the SOTUA – create some Good Trade Schools to prepare our youngsters for jobs in Hi-Tech Manufacturing *after the master the basic needs of being able to read and comprehend what they are reading, make change without needing a calculator, write legibly and gain the ability to form a complete, coherent sentence, and last but not least – develop good work ethic and an American sense of Pride in doing a job well. The very last thing our economy needs is more unskilled labor seeping in through our borders, sucking down available assistance programs and barely keeping status quo. Being a Veteran, I watched some of the underdeveloped, poorly educated and those who felt they were owed a living, and felt shame in their inability to even get through Basic Military Training. We need to change some things, and change quickly! History can teach some valuable lessons if we just pay attention.

High time we kick those out that are not wanting to assimulate! There bring illegal acts and there sending millions back to there host Country’s . Ther is no reason for these illegals to be flying Mexican or ISIS Flags. That there is telling you they want to take over this Country! We need to set some rules to these foreigners !

Send them all home to where ever they came from; Mom, Dad, Kids the whole bunch. They will stay together as a family unit which will should keep them safe to work together. Moochers tend to stay at the moochers trough as long as someone keeps filling it. Right at 70% of the Mexicans are on the dole rolls which encourages more Illegals to cross the border. We are a sad bunch; we can’t stop the drugs, we can’t stop the Illegals, and our citizens are being killed by the Mexican murderers. It’s too much and it has to stop!!!—Soon!!!

DACA applications (1.8 million) will mess up immigration for years for those who have applied to come here legally. Why should DACA go to the front of the line and those who have applied legally go to the back. Definitely time for merit based immigration, no lottery, e-verify, secure borders, but that does not mean that DACA comes first.

Linda
Linda

A case for DACA people to stay legally could be made, but NOT for granting them citizenship – ever. The illegality of their status should NOT be rewarded; lack of intention nor ignorance of the law has never been an acceptable defense for the rest of us.
The 4 – 5 MILLION people on the Chain Migration waiting list should be removed, NOT processed (15 years of continuing existence). They haven’t been screened, are not necessarily nuclear family members and majorly constitute an additional welfare burden.
These 6 MILLION (probably more) people should not be allowed access to citizenship – besides NOT rewarding their criminal acts, they WILL vote for DEMs, destroying our country.

Amnesty will only cause greater harm. We have granted seven amnesties to date each one resulting in higher rates of violations of our borders and visa laws.
A greater harm that economic is our safety and welfare, a recent report from the DOJ and DHS stated that 69,929 women and children were raped and molested by illegals between 2003-2009 bring that up to date would add 100,000 more.
A report from Texas stated that in their state over 600,000 crimes and nearly 3000 murders were committed by illegals between 2008-2014 that equals 9 Las Vegas shootings per year. While illegals make up less than 1% of our population 22% of federal prisoners are illegals

So then, why are we even considering an amnesty for DACA aliens? There is only one way to deal with this situation. Stand firm, DO NOT negotiate on ANY proposal. Deport all that’s here illegally. I’m tired of hearing about these poor “children”, who are an average age of 24-25 years old, some that STILL cannot speak English and has refused to even try to get themselves legal. Send them all back to where they came from.

President Trump knows what is right for our country. We have an illegal alien problem that does not benefit the country and is sucking the taxpayers dry. He is willing and able to have Congress fix it permanently, and we must back him 100%. Vote out the Democrats who oppose Trump’s new immigration policy.

I agree with President Trumps strict vetting rules, but the ones that are already here should be able to stay.
I know a immigrate who came here on a work visa by himself to find work to pay for his invalid sons medication because of the low wages in his country he could not afford it. He has been here several years and yes he sends money back to his country. This man has never used govt assist, has no health ins, never been in any trouble with the law and has worked hard for everything he has. His son has thrived with the medication that helps keep his seizures under control. I believe he and ones like him should be able to stay and be able to work without fear of deportation. If he goes back to his country he will not be able to return because the cost is too high and you cant trust anyone to help you.

Absolutely, for Decades OUR Immigration Laws, Border Security & Enforcement have NEVER been implemented, & the Already APPROVED 700 Mile Border Wall from 13 YEARS ago has not been built. The costs of Millions of Illegals to American Citizens & LEGAL Immigrants is staggering, MANY BILLIONS in cost to us in Health Care, Education, Crime, Unemployment, Welfare, etc. To solve this, it MUST be solved “ONCE-& for ALL Time.” Wall FULLY FUNDED, Enforcement of OUR Laws, END Chain-Migration , Visa Lottery & Overstays, Assimilation, Merit-Based & reduced LEGAL Immigration, NO Future Amnesties ever AGAIN, & Legal Status ONLY, not Citizenship for the Vetted DACA recipients. SAFA B4 DACA.

Just reflecting on the problems the European Union countries are facing is prove enough that this Country is in dire need of strict immigration laws. California is a perfect example of what happens when violating our laws helps many Illegal people encourage others to join the welfare crowd. Not only that , but many are voted into our legal system that further encourages more illegals to come here; thus California is now a Sanctuary State that further increases more illegal Immigrants coming here in droves thank to Chain Migration. The Golden State is now becoming very tarnished.

My meaning of DACA, Democrats against children of America. My grandkids pay for every book they get, no free healthcare. Nothing. Illegals come into this country and receive $1500.00 a month. I worked all my life, except when I was pregnant, and I do t get that much. They get free health care. I pay my Medicare, my supplement, and my prescription plan. As well as my husbands. He’s almost 80 and I’m 76. By the grace of God we live in our own home, but the school taxes are killing us. We haven had a kid in school since 1988. Time to change the tide and do for the American people not the illegals. We worked all of our lives. We never had a penny of welfare. You go President Trump get it done.
