Despite the state announcing it would conduct a recount, Oz took to Twitter to declare his win. He currently leads opponent David McCormick by just 902 votes.

In a video posted to Twitter, Oz said, “I am blessed to have earned the presumptive Republican nomination for the United States Senate.”

According to the Daily Caller, former President Donald Trump, who endorsed Oz, urged him to “declare victory” as soon as the day after the election.

McCormick directed reporters to a previous statement in which he predicted a recount when asked about Oz’s presumptive victory declaration.

The courts have not yet decided on a lawsuit filed by McCormick early this week. He sought to include mail-in ballots without a handwritten date, as required by state law. The RNC said it intended to fight that lawsuit as part of its “ironclad commitment to ensuring that the highest standards of transparency and security.”

Representatives for Oz and Trump have not commented beyond Oz’s statement on Twitter.
