Madison Cawthorn Loses Reelection Bid

Despite former President Trump’s early endorsement and last minute support, the young congressman could not overcome his late campaign scandals.
Just two years after his lightning ascension to the forefront of the Republican party, Madison Cawthorn’s campaign has met its bitter end in North Carolina.
I’ve seen enough: Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R) has lost renomination to state Sen. Chuck Edwards (R) in the #NC11 GOP primary.

He faced fierce intraparty opposition after a series of scandals beginning with racy comments he made on the Warrior Poet Society podcast.
Not long after drawing the ire of his party and both criticism and mockery from Democrats, a seemingly unstoppable series of embarrassing leaks and careless mistakes plagued the representative.
A late showing of support by Trump was unable to right Cawthorn’s course.
Instead, it is State Senator Chuck Edwards who will move on to the general election to face Democrat Jasmine Beach-Ferrara in the relatively safe Republican district.
Cawthorn’s youthful immaturity did himself in. He is young. He has time to reflect on and learn from what happened and to understand what he needs to do in the future if he wishes to pursue a political career.
Those are my thoughts exactly.
However, the people in his district did not support him.
Unfortunately in the caustic jungle of today’s ‘public opinionology’ one need not be convicted. To end a career all that’s needed is to be accused. That’s it. Whatever happened, the ‘scandal,’ whether factual or manufactured, played a role, so I think.
