Liberal State Ends High School Reading Efficiency Requirement
The state of Oregon has ended the reading proficiency requirement for high schoolers.
According to The Washington Free Beacon:
Democratic governor Kate Brown of Oregon signed a bill last month that drops the requirement that high schoolers prove they can read, write, and do math at a basic high school level in order to graduate.
AdvertisementThe bill, which the Democratic legislature passed in June in a mostly party-line vote, suspends Oregon’s high school graduation requirements for at least five years as the state works to reform its high school standards. A spokesman for the governor’s office told the Oregonian that suspending the proficiency requirements will benefit “Oregon’s Black, Latino, Latina, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, Tribal, and students of color.”
Before the requirements were put on hold during the pandemic, Oregon high schoolers needed to show proficiency in “essential learning skills” to earn their diploma. That meant demonstrating basic skills in reading, writing, and math, which students could prove without taking a test.
The governor signed the bill on July 14 with no fanfare. The move went under the radar for nearly two weeks, according to the Oregonian, because Brown did not hold a ceremony or issue a press release to mark the signing of the bill. Oregon’s legislative database was not updated to reflect that the governor signed the bill until July 29. Other bills Brown signed in July were updated in the database the same day she signed them. A state legislative information services administrator attributed the failure to issue a notice that the bill had been signed to a system malfunction.

His action is no worse than the establishment closing down our public schools for more than a year denying middle class students an education and placing them more than a year behind their Elite counterparts well established in private schools. The Socialists in our demomarxist left are bent on creating an underclass of students who will never be able tocatch up to their elite counterparts.
Well, if you can’t read, write or think you are more likely to be lead as opposed to being a leader. Seems to me they are building on what academia has already effected at the collegiate level! WHY ARE THE PEOPLE PUTTING UP WITH THIS ???
My grandson moved down here at 14 to be with his bio-father and, of course, started going to school in Oregon (schools already compromised by Gov. Roberts’ “Education for the 21st C.” policies – a precursor to the current “dumbing down” policies) and I thereafter started building a relationship with him. However, as I got to know him better, I began to/ think he was (pardon the term) “retarded”. He did not know anything. It was shocking! Long story short – we had him thoroughly tested. He blew away the standard Stanford-Binet test, with an IQ well in excess of the 165 it can measure. His seeming intellectual incapacity was strictly the result of the substandard schooling (*) which Oregon provided (we took him under our wing and he’s doing just fine, earning 6 digits and able to discourse on lots of topics with ease and erudition). Bad as things were back then, we now find out, our expectations were still too demanding, causing our current governor to do away with all standards. An Oregon diploma isn’t even a “participation trophy” anymore – because you don’t even have to participate – and Kate Brown and her colleagues couldn’t be happier to have a stupid and tractable electorate. It is time, before this Oregon disease spreads, to eliminate Public Schooling and to institute a voucher system, with testing for proficiency (and the test makers should NOT be allowed to provide “lesson plans” or to otherwise participate in the process which has been the big scam under the “No Child Left Behind” farce).
The dumbing down of America. This must be a primary point of every Republican Congressional and Senatorial candidate in 2022. Especially in inner cities – if the kids “graduate” from high school without adequate skills, they are sentenced to a lifetime in the lower class of citizens. Oh, wait, that is what the Soialist, Communist, Marxist leaders want. Let’s change the name of our country to the United States of North Venezuela…

Rather than improve students learning the Governor decided to let the learning to by the wayside. No doubt this is because the Teachers Union wanted it that way. It seems to me that we can teach high school without certified teachers since there is not standard to test too.

This is all the more reason that home schooling and private education is the only sane way for educating, considering public schools are manufacturing our future idiots of uselessness! If that’s the case, teachers should really take a pay cut since they don’t have to do that much to instill stupidity without any effort, because it happens naturally on on it’s own! Heck, why send the kids to school anyhow, because stupidity will naturally happen on its own! That would save the taxpayers lots of money for teachers saleries that they can direct to the leeches that illegally cross our border to get all kinds of free stuff which Americans have to find a job to have! Yes!?!? There will be jolly times in the future handing out free food and changing diapers everyday! It would be nice to own stock in baby and diaper products now!
I’m an Oregonian – have been for 40+ years. About 30 years ago, however, we began to get inundated with carpetbaggers from California fleeing the mess they’d made down there (and, unfortunately, bringing all their inanities and insane laws and policies up here – indeed, Kate Brown is the sister of “Governor Moonbeam”, Jerry Brown, of California, snuck into office by a scam perpetrated by the same people imposing the same kind of “news management” which we saw played against Pres. Trump in 2020). Prior thereto, Oregon’s whole population was less than that of Portland now and Portland, which was only the largest of 5 population centers, suddenly came to hold over 60% of the vote, reducing the rest of the state to peonage, mere colonies to be exploited for the sake of the urban elite. It wasn’t fecund Oregonians building Portland’s dominance – oh, no – it was Californians and they ruined this place – in the words of their victims, they “Californicated” us, and they are now doing it to Nevada and Arizona and Colorado and New Mexico (and Washington, which was bad enough on its own, has now gone entirely over to the “Dark Side”). This education policy is every bit as bad as it sounds – it’s “No Child Left Behind” by reason of “No Child Going Anywhere”. This is “equality” as the Left perceives and desires it. We’re fighting, but we need your help – 2/3rds of the state is trying to secede, but the Legislature and Courts won’t do their job (ditto in California where a secessionist movement also flourishes and is similarly being stymied). If they want their DC as a state, then we want at least two, independent States of Jefferson (North and South). Tell your Fed’l representative that’s the deal (toss in “Greater Idaho” for the folks in Washington outside Seattle, too).

No more than an admission that teachers in that state are incapable of teaching children to read and write. Therefore they should forfeit their teaching licences immediately. .
