Schumer Promises to Force Votes on Possible Impechment Witnesses
Senator Chuck Schumer has stated that he will force the Senate to vote on possible impeachment witnesses. In order for the Democrats to call witnesses, they will need four GOP Senators to vote with them.
According to The Hill:
Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said Tuesday that Democrats will force votes on witnesses at the start of the impeachment trial even as Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has secured enough support to delay the decision until mid-trial.
Advertisement“Make no mistake, on the question of witnesses and documents, Republicans may run but they can’t hide. There will be votes at the beginning on whether to call the four witnesses we’ve proposed and subpoena the documents we’ve identified,” Schumer said.
He added that “America and the eyes of history will be watching what my Republican colleagues do.”
“If every Republican senator votes for a rigged trial that hides the truth, the American people will see that the Republican Senate is part of a large and awful cover-up,” Schumer said.
It appears that McConnell will have the votes necessary, 51, to set up the rules for the impeachment trial without Democrat support.

What impeachment? The articles are not delivered. In fact the HOUSE MUST by law FUND the rial before it can happen. The FIRST order of business is to request funding at 3 times what the house used. Trials cost 3 to 5 times what an investigation costs. The house must fund first.
But before that articles must be delivered.
As soon as the Senate obtains a true copy they can demand funding within 5 days. If funding does not come then the Senate can vote to dismiss charges with prejudice for non-prosecution. That ends the entirety of the issue.
On the other hand IF the Senate has a trial, there will be a prosecutor. Then there will be a defense. The real issue is that the dems KNOW that this trial is VERY important and therefore the “defendant” has the right to call ANY WITNESS. This is why the dems have NOT delivered the articles.. They are scared to death because Trump and his people KNOW exactly who to call and what to ask.
The Dems will find this entire episode imploding on them.
