Trump Administration Preparing Ban on E-Cigarettes

The Trump administration is preparing a ban on e-cigarettes as more reports surface of deaths possibly related to the vaping industry.

According to CNBC:

The Trump administration is preparing to ban flavored e-cigarettes as federal health officials call for restrictions to combat an outbreak of a mysterious lung disease that has sickened hundreds and killed at least six people, U.S. health secretary Alex Azar told reporters Wednesday.

The Food and Drug Administration is finalizing its guidance to remove e-cigarette flavors other than tobacco from the market because children are attracted to other flavors, Azar said, following a meeting at the Oval Office with President Donald Trump. It could take the FDA several weeks to develop the guidelines, he said.

The administration will also take enforcement action if it finds e-cigarette makers are intentionally targeting children, Azar said.

Azar and acting FDA Commissioner Ned Sharpless briefed Trump on new data showing a surge in teen vaping. Results from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s 2019 National Youth Tobacco Survey have not been made public yet. Last year’s survey showed skyrocketing use among middle and high school students, prompting the FDA to label teen vaping an “epidemic.”

President Trump has urged the FDA to get to the bottom of the problems surrounding the vaping industry.

I predict that HE will file more lawsuits over this ban. Can’t wait to see ouw they explain their reasons. Meanwhile, I would encourage the victims to join in class action suits against the companies who advertised their products as safe alternatives to tobzcco.

Awesome, he/they have already utterly destroyed the lives of millions of chronic pain sufferers over a completely FABRICATED opioid “crisis”. Statistics PROVE that the vast majority of opioid deaths are from STREET drugs, NOT prescriptions but hey, if it gains you federal $$ & political points who cares how many innocent lives are destroyed, right? Oh, & the Trump administration, as well as the past Obama & Bush ones, is doing NOTHING to curb the flow of ILLEGAL DRUGS coming from South & Central America. But they are more than happy to further destroy the lives of people already marginalized & isolated by society, those with chronic pain.

Here is an idea, MIND YOUR OWN FV CKING BUSINESS!! I do not need the P O S, lying, conniving, corrupt government DICTATING how I can live my life.

Cheryl, you claim Trump is “doing NOTHING to curb the flow of ILLEGAL DRUGS coming from South & Central America.” You DO realize that it’s the DUMBOCRATS who are obstructing President Trump at every turn, to PREVENT him from strengthening our border security and building the damn wall. He would love nothing more than to stop the flow of illegal drugs AND illegal aliens from flooding across our border! You need to direct your anger at your obstructionist DUMBOCRAT leaders … NOT President Trump. He is trying. They will not let him.

Elaine–Trump is doing the best he can to curb the flow of drugs into this country. Building the wall is a major factor in slowing it down..If the people in congress would co-operate with him more would be accomplished.

I found the September 11, memorial speech by President SURPRINGLY refreshing to listen to, as opposed to his usual EMBARASSING/ HURTFUL daily tweets. Hey, maybe we have a GOOD PRESIDENT, with a newly found way to communicaste

James If people aren’t intelligent to make good decisions about their health, then the government should step in and ban the product. There are better ways to get a high then depending on some mind altering substance. We only use a portion of our brains already. Why would you want to destroy them? Wake up America

Anything you put in your lungs besides fresh air will do harm to them.

I agree with Cheryl about the opiods. Without Vicadin, I would not be able to get out of bed in the morning, or live a half way normal life. Knee replacements, and having a broken back fixed with rods and pins made of metal, make my days without pain medication a living nightmare. As for e-cigs, as a former smoker, (quit over 20 years ago) I would like to see a ban on CIGARETTES.!!! ALL of them. My husband won’t quit, and even though he smokes outside, the nicotine on his clothes makes my asthma worse. Plus I worry that I will lose him because of those cancer sticks.

Cheryl: You need to stop watching all of the Democratic/Leftists/Liberal/Socialist BS and perhaps try reading just a bit. This article is about Vaping and not your right to trip out on your medication. The President is trying to curb the flow of drugs across the border but you and your kind want to open the border to allow even more Criminals and their drugs. The problem is that stupid people are inhaling various oil-based substances into their lungs and dying all fro the sake of looking kool. The human lungs are made for the inhalation of AIR and not for any kind of liquid. When the lungs fill up with liquid you drown. These vaping solutions contain oil that coats the inside of your lungs and thereby blocking the absorption of oxygen. One more thing, in a roundabout way your taking drugs be it prescribed or off the street, is other people’s business since when you dir from these drugs your family will sue the manufacturer costing the company millions of dollars for your stupidity.

@ Tony….I do not think that people realize that no matter WHAT Prescription Drug folks in the U.S. are taking, Via Script from their Provider(s) of Pain Meds, that Most of them are MADE IN CHINA. They have the worst. They are filled with many addiction ingredients.
I hope for everyone’s sake, they understand that they ‘are’ or ‘will’ be addicted no matter what…and they don’t even realize it.
My niece was in two auto accidents, of which she almost lost her life Twice, at age 17 and again at 19. She ‘to this day’ still has all her hardware inside her body, but she realized that the pills they were giving her were ‘not’ the answer. She went for Alternative treatments, and after she began, will only take Advil, and it works. I can hardly believe she survived those accidents, and she has a very long journey back to us.

4 or 5 deaths does not make an epidemic. They are sure these deaths have nothing to do with the vaping aspect so much as what they were vaping that is at issue. They were using a mixture that included some very sketchy THC compounds in it. There is still no problem with the vaping no matter how much they try to claim there is and it has helped a whole lot of people to quit the much more dangerous habit of smoking. Don’t really understand their endgame of trying to get this banned, it really makes no sense at all.
