Trump and Kim Jong Un Meet in Vietnam

President Trump and Chairman Kim have met in Vietnam, in second historic summit aimed at normalizing the tensions on the Korean peninsula. Fox News reports:

President Trump praised his “special relationship” with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and said “a lot of things will be solved” during the two leaders’ second summit in Vietnam as they prepare for a full day of formal talks.

Trump and Kim kicked off their second summit on Wednesday by exchanging handshakes and laughs at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi. They briefly spoke to reporters, where Trump said the biggest progress since the historic Singapore summit was the two countries’ relationship.

“It’s really a good one,” he added.

“It’s an honor to be with Chairman Kim,” Trump said after exchanging handshakes with Kim. “I thought the first summit was a great success and I think this one, hopefully, will be equal or greater than the first.”

This could be one of the last opportunities to reach a peaceful agreement.

There are no women born like me in 1932 that were called into fight in a surprise losing war that started only two weeks after my high school graduation and just six weeks after my 18th birthday, some 68 years ago; and not very many men either. The birth rate in 1932 was the lowest in decades and not matched since!

Yes, we knew that when our nation was called to avoid the clear threat to global freedom that the U.N. quickly recognized and declared a united stand agains the Soviet encouraged aggressors, we must respond. The Russians won N. Korea as ‘war booty’ in part, because it declared war against Japan 8 days before the surrender. To feed their new satellite, they encouraged invasion of the nearly undefended S. Korean ‘bread-basket’ and indeed the invaders almost cleared the entire peninsula of any defenders including a few thousand newcomers to the U.S. Army. We were saved by Gen. MacArthur’s counter- not by frontal efforts from inside the small tip still in U.N. control; but, by a Marine landing at Inchon, half way to the N. Korean capital from Pusan.

Although I was training to fly a F-86 Sabre jet, the fighting died down and I was released to become a civilian and not many of us are still alive at 86; but we all know that socialism is a dangerous political disease that has wide appeal to those that are poor in mind, body, or spirit. It takes imaginative help to assist such persons without doing more damage than good.

That is our challenge and Pres. Trump knows it. We pray that he will help the N. Koreans find a peaceful path to prosperity to replace an obsolete notion of conquest as a working option. Freemen and women must work together to show Kim and company how the way to peace and prosperity is a lot easier sans nukes and belligerent bluster.

This is a great summit and i am very happy about their relationship. After spending many deployments in South Korea prepping for war. It is awesome to see President Trump and Chairman Kim working together to resolve this tension. Great job Mr. President.
