Why is President Trump putting taxing imports from friendly countries like Canada, Mexico and the the nations in the European Union? “It’s reciprocal. It’s a mirror tax, ” President Trump said in March.

President Trump initiated the tariffs in March, but gave our allies until now to adjust their own tariffs on American goods. They were granted temporary exemptions on steel and aluminum, which are products that America must produce if it is to be ready for a potential war. Europe had a $134 Billion trade surplus with the United States in 2016, which the president argues is due to previous administrations letting European trade abuses slide.

Canada and Mexico have been at the negotiating table recently, as the president wants to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which the president believes to be among the worst trade deals ever agreed to by the United States. As negotiations have stalled, the president is following through with the tariffs he promised in March.

After repeated delays, President Trump is moving forward with the 25 percent tariff on steel and 10 percent tariff on aluminum, The United States has reached an arrangement with South Korea on steel, as well as Australia, Argentina, and Brazil. The United States has also reached agreements Australia and Argentina on aluminum.

The bottom line is that President Trump is keeping his promise to American workers on renegotiating bad trade, and would rather have disagreements now with friends than have America come up short against an enemy in a future national emergency.

I have a problem understanding what the problem is. We are a big wealthy country that wants lots of stuff. More stuff than we are going to make here. They have the product we want. Especially countries that are third world countries with low wages and costs of living. It seems like an even trade to me. They get money and we get STUFF. Where is the deficit?

europe has had tariffs in place on identical products with us yet we have none with them…why are you talking about third world countries? we don’t owe anyone anything.

So it’s alright to pay through the nose and not have some kind of reciprocity. Yes we have a lot and should give more to support the rest of the world? Bovine scat.

You’d think that after a little over a year they would know by now he doesn’t make idle threats. They’ve had since March to agree to his wishes and if they haven’t done it then they should be expecting the tariffs. He said from the beginning of his campaign that America and American workers will come first in this country and he’s proven it over and over again since he took office. He still has my support to do what’s necessary.

Howard, you don’t understand that we don’t make steel and aluminum. That’s because globalist sold out our country and workers. We need to produce those metals here in case of a war or some other disaster in other parts of the world. Try reading history on when we were attacked by Japan and we entered the world war. Everything had to go into the war machine and that meant gearing up business, because before there was little being made here. That’s also why we are the richest country do to our industry. Now not so much, again. Learn something so you don’t come off as an idiot.

Trump wants to put the new global structure in dealing business with China, including the very concerned security, technology, and the most importance of our country is the military strategy.

Isn’t strange weird why the democrats, Clinton who is supposed to be for the working class folks sold us down the river with nafta,at the time I was working and totally Pi$$ed with the democrates, yet the unions backed them, needless to say I’ve voted Republican since then,so sorry the working class hasn’t awoke yet,not that I don’t dislike half of the rino repubs also, our Pres.Mr Trump is the first Pol. in many years that I really am proud to have voted for, every day is another campaign promise kept, from a proud American Vet,God Bless Mr President.

It is outstanding to finally have an American President who has the foresight and courage to do what is best for this country in spite of criticism. Thank you, President Trump!

We all hope that Mexico pays for the wall, especially since it simply directs all the illegals right to the border instead of handling them in Mexico. It’s too easy to dump the problem on someone else. Mexico always was looking for a welfare state to pay its expenses. Mexico never did pretend to shoulder its own obligations; it’s too easy to try to bleed someone else for it. They breed like flies and then say that the expenses to support their over-indulgences are someone else’s.
MEXICO: PAY FOR THAT WALL! You are the cause for the need for it.
