WATCH: President Trump Hosts Californians Against Sanctuary Cities

WHAT: Communities are coming out against reckless sanctuary policies and in support of our Federal immigration laws that protect the American people.

Sanctuary jurisdictions continue to hinder Federal immigration enforcement efforts. These jurisdictions often refuse even basic requests for information, such as notice to Federal officials before the release of certain criminal aliens.

California has passed statewide sanctuary policies that restrict cooperation and information-sharing between Federal immigration authorities and local law enforcement. California has enacted legislation (Senate Bill 54) which restricts local law enforcement from providing Federal immigration officials with information about the release date of certain removable criminal aliens in their custody. Senate Bill 54 also restricts the actual transfer of certain criminal aliens to Federal custody.

Communities across California have come out in opposition to the State’s sanctuary policies, including Los Alamitos, San Jacinto, San Juan Capistrano, Escondido, Laguna Niguel, and Lake Elsinore among numerous others. County governments, including Orange County and San Diego County, California’s second largest county, have also joined in opposition. Community leaders have been clear in their opposition to California’s efforts to restrict local cooperation with lawful Federal immigration enforcement.

WHY: Sanctuary policies undermine lawful immigration enforcement efforts and are responsible for the release of criminal aliens into American communities.

President Trump will be meeting with local officials from California who can speak first-hand about how sanctuary policies undermine law enforcement operations and jeopardize community safety.

California and other sanctuary jurisdictions are openly obstructing Federal efforts to take custody of and remove certain criminal aliens. As a result, dangerous criminal aliens are released back into American communities, where they have the potential to commit further crimes. For example, an alleged gang member in San Francisco was arrested more than ten times between 2013 and 2017 for charges including rape, domestic battery, and assault. However, each time San Francisco denied a request to transfer the individual to Federal custody or even notify Federal officials before releasing the individual. This is an unacceptable risk to community safety.

The President has made clear that these dangerous and obstructive sanctuary policies must end.

Those that made the Immigration Laws are upset when the law is enforced. Don’t they know that they can repeal laws they don’t like?

Kenneth, you are correct. Those that hurl insults at you for pointing out terrible grammar and spelling are showing their ignorance and lack of respect for our language. Those that can’t voice their comment intelligently and are an embarrassment for us all. Those that condone stupididity such as Y. Fileccia and Helen S. Higgason and others that love the silly term ‘Grammar Nazi’ should be ashamed. Truth, which may hurt, should be a learning experience. Lastly, I surely agree with all voices against ‘Sanctuary’ cities, but when one political party strives to destroy our culture at every turn, it should be rocognized as treasonous. Invasion of America by illegals, and the supporters of that invasion, are enemies of America and should be dealt with immediately, and with prejudice.

You failed to mention the number of counties in northern and central area of California who have voted to reject sanctuary state Policy, to include, Tehama, Shasta, Siskiyou, Lassen, Butte, Mariposa and Tuolumne, not to mention several cities.
Happy to see El Dorado County Sheriff John D’Agostini invited, who is helping us lead the charge in El Doraco County, along with our District Attorney Vern Pierson.

What logical reason do these morons see as a positive benefit to have these violent criminals back in their neighborhood?

All laws which are on the books now should be enforced. Quit cherry-picking the laws you want and ignoring those you don’t as did Obama. Build the wall to protect the USA as Obama built a wall around his new home in D.C. to protect himself and his family.

Sanctuary cities are illegal and dangerous. There are no Republican mayors with sanctuary cities, just demented leftist Democrats.

I agree! We need to enforce the law! We have laws for a reason. Liberals just want to “do their own thing” and ignore the laws they don’t like. They won’t try to change the law, because they know the support is not there. The ONE & ONLY reason that liberals support sanctuary policies, is because most of these people will support liberals. We all know this. Besides the law, that is why they should & must be eliminated. It unfairly favors one side.

Why are not the Mayors in jail . On day one when they said their city was to be a sanctuary city they should have been arrested along with those that approve it.

It is great to see the President sponsoring that meeting against sanctuary activities in California and elsewhere. Governor brownie has created a mechanism to protect criminals, illegals, and smugglers, as well as sex traffickers and drug pushers. He simply shows too much interest in protecting that element of society instead of working for the Americans who put him in office. There are rumors now that he is profiting from some of the cartels. Who knows? Maybe he’s in their pocket.
