SPECIAL REPORT: President Trump Signs Omnibus With Warning

(U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Delano Scott)

By 1600 Daily Staff

President Trump held a special press event on Friday to warn Congress that the status quo is unacceptable. The president reluctantly pledged to sign the bill, but not without warning Congress that “I’m not going to do it again. ”

The Washington Examiner has the story:

“President Trump said he signed a $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill into law on Friday, despite threatening hours earlier to veto the legislation due to frustrations with its paltry border security funding and failure to codify protections for undocumented youth.

‘My highest duty is to keep America safe,’ Trump said. ‘Therefore, as a matter of national security, I’ve signed this omnibus bill….’There are a lot of things I’m not happy about in this bill. There are a lot of things we should not have had in this bill,’ he said. But Trump also warned that this would be the last omnibus bill he signs into law, and said the process for getting the bill to his desk this week was ‘ridiculous.’

. . .

‘You tell me who can read that quickly,’ Trump said of the 2,232-page bill. ‘I’m not going to do it again.’

. . .

‘We have to get rid of the filibuster rule … and go to 51 votes in the Senate,’ Trump said.”

The president sent Washington into a frenzy with tweets first threatening to veto, then calling the press event where he gave the above remarks. The president strongly considered a veto, then said that any benefit of a veto would be outweighed by the funding for the military, which the president has fought for. The warning to Congress stands as a call to get their house in order before the next funding bill comes to President Trump’s desk.

Shut-up…like you or ANYBODY ELSE could have done better to AMERICA and our MILITARY! He did what was necessary at this point in time. He also stated unequivocally that this will be the LAST OMNIBUS BUDGET he signs. What would you have done in his predicament?

I agree, the Swamp , McConnell, Ryan, Pelosi and Schumer really stuck it to the President! I am so sick of these people, they need to be VOTED OUT!!! President Trump did what was needed to keep our country safe, especially since Obama and his cronies gutted our Military over eight years! What would some of you people would have done in his shoes?! He has done more for this country in one year than any other President, just remember that! I am still supporting this President, he needs all of us to watch his back, since most of the GOP keeps stabbing him in the back! Trump 2020

If I were you I would be though. That is shake in your boots. You have to be the lowest life form of slime. Nothing else would explain what you have said. I am writing in short sentences, so you can understand. If I were to write my usual sentences, you would be lost. I am try to keep them under fifteen words. You liberal democrats can’t handle more than that. I can imagine if the democrats wrote the bill. Each sentence must contain only two words. Anything beyond that requires comprehension and a mind that works.

Donna, pull yourself together! This is nowhere near as bad as you make it sound. Sometimes a President has to do things he doesnt want to, for the greater good of the American people. How does this bill suspend your 2nd amendment rights? You should stay the course, you are Republican and you support Pres Trump! Dont fold! That will mean you are weak.

trump should piss them all off and stop all immigration to the US permanently–no exceptions! say a 100 yr freeze should do it–then round up all DACA for removal period–he needs to stop playing nice and grow a pair- and start jailing the crooks he knows exists in our govt–no bail– just jail !! thats what they will all understand–if he did he’d jail over 75 percent of congress–

Agreed! Of course he should permanently stop immigration and round up the daca-caca illegals. But the chances for anything more coming from Trump that even remotely resembles sanity, are pretty close to nil. He has decided the fight is not worth the cost. It’s faaar easier for him to suck up to the degenerate demons.

So disappointed that Trump allowed himself to be buffaloed into signing this bill. He let the swamp rats bait him with supporting the military. How disappointed he is going to be when he realizes he was scammed! He should have stood his ground……they will no long be afraid to continue down this path. Dems and rinos won……the patriots lost!

I think this little “compromise” will harden Pres Trump. Playing nice with the Dems will be a thing of the past, once he realizes he has been played. The wrath of The Donald will fall on the Dems responsible for this travesty. I look forward to seeing how it all unfolds.

Trump is wise to fund the military because they are his strong right arm. If you know what is going on behind the scenes, this make a lot of sense. That is why he is putting up with the usual congressional foolishness. Stay tuned. The best is yet to come.

This was a mistake. Yes the military needs vast funding thanks to Obama., but why are we paying for border security for other countries and not our own? Why are we funding planned parenthood and sanctuary cities? Seems to me all of these wasteful things would have paid for the wall and our own security!!

The President was spot on in his assessment. The process is insane and a massive waste of money on various bills which are contained within. What amaze’s me most is how the Democrats want to keep those in the DACA program hanging in limbo just to use as a political crutch. I think the President did an outstanding job conveying this and hopefully those in the program will not fall for the bull coming out of the mouths of the Dems. It is the Republicans who are trying to help them and the Democrats who are, as usual, using them and thinking they are to stupid to see through the charade.

We have a BROKEN government! This government is not longer for the American people it is for the greedy. Planned parenthood is being funded and they kill thousands of babies a year and sell the body parts! This is barbaric and not civilized. We sent Republicans to DC to eliminate Obamacare and we still have it. Many congress people are lairs and cheats. This is why the American people have such a low evaluation on the legislative branch of government. What have we become? I have NO confidence in our legislature branch of government all they think about is themselves and their pocket books. God help us because no one else is going to. One day GOD is not going to bless America and those who have cheated and lied will have to face Jesus.

The fact that the American people have been betrayed by the Republican Party, and a President that most patriotic and caring citizens believe in is beyond sickening. When you consider the bill would not have passed the House without support from some Republican members of Congress and the same in the Senate, it just goes to show that we have a snake in D.C. that has one body and 2 heads. The fact that these “traitors” allowed the draconian firearm provisions in the bill, and that nothing was in the bill about the border wall, plus all the other garbage which hurts our country.
We desperately need a new third party, which has the American people first and the lackeys of the rich and powerful last. Until that time comes we will continue to watch the Republic slowly die from within because of the traitors like McConnell , Schumer, Pelosi, and Ryan . To paraphrase Churchill “This was not their finest hour”. RIP America

He did the best he could, knowing the GOP would be blamed, the military wouldn’t get its deserved enhancement, and he wouldn’t get anything toward the wall if he refused to sign it. Congress loves to cover up the giveaways with a lot of extra words, but over 2,000 – ecch!

I feel Trump just joined the Swamp today. I support the military, but he gave up to much to the Demorats. He should have vetoed it and put it back on Congress. Congress rammed another bill so they could go on another 2 week vacation. They also got a raise in this bill. They get raises for sticking it to the American people. The Demorats and the never Trumpers sugar coated the bill with the defense spending to get what they wanted. Pelosi and Schumer are laughing all the way home. The gave him a drop in the bucket for the wall, while they funded Planned Parenthood , sanctuary cities, money for a Schumer tunnel, and a Congressional raise. I hope i am wrong but i feel he just shut the door on a second term and we will lose the House this year and that will open the door for impeachment. Sad day for America!!!

I would like to see a list of all the pork & the name/State/district of the person who “sold” their support for the Bill to get it passed. I wonder how many “studies” & “bridges to nowhere” we the people will be paying for.

Dem Jessica Turlov on FOX Outnumbered this morning said that Dems got “everything they wanted” in the Bill & then it was pointed out to her that evidently Dems really didn’t want DACA.

Ma’am, Pres Trump did not sign a BILL. He signed an Omnibus Budget. Big differences between the two. An Omnibus budget is a Suggestion, not a hard and fast budget. Pres Trump doesnt have to sign anything in the Omnibus Budget, if he doesnt want to. Obama did it all the time. If there is a piece of budget that Nancy or Chuck want, Pres Trump doesnt have to sign it. As a previous commenter said “he trumped the Dems!”

Disappointed? Yes. What is it that people don’t understand about being broke. Shut the government down and keep it down till we have a spending bill that puts money back into the treasury. The tax on a six pack of corona and a pack of taco shells don’t foot the bills that Hose and Marie and their six kids are running up. Close the borders north, south, east and west indefinitely . Simple, Ken: He doesn’t have it…Republicans passed it in 1996 and Clinton used it 80+ times and then the Supreme Court ruled it unconstitutional in Clinton v. City of New York in 1998. Had Trump vetoed the entire bill, Congress would have voted again and I’m sure would have managed to scrounge up two more RINO votes to get to a 2/3 majority and override his veto. IMO, it was a losing proposition any way you cut it.
