A President That Puts the Needs of Rural Americans Front and Center

One in 12 jobs in the United States is dependent on agriculture, according to the Agriculture Council of America (ACA). From farmers to processors to consumers, the fruits—pun intended—of U.S. agriculture find their way into the home of every American.

National Agriculture Day, or “Ag Day,” is a moment to reflect on the essential role agriculture plays in our society. This year’s celebration on March 20 marks the 45th anniversary of Ag Day and carries the theme of “Agriculture: Food for Life.” The ACA started the Ag Day program in 1973 to teach more Americans about how food and fiber products are produced, how they contribute to the economy, and what career opportunities they afford.

President Donald J. Trump’s Secretary of Agriculture, Sonny Perdue, has been active in traveling the country and hearing firsthand about how government decisions affect our farmers. The Administration is in the process of considering legislative, regulatory, and other policy changes stemming from the Interagency Task Force on Agriculture and Rural Prosperity, which Secretary Perdue chairs.

That task force has identified more than 100 recommendations, spanning across five key areas of need:

  1. Achieving e-Connectivity for Rural America: Electronic connectivity is more than a matter of convenience; it’s fundamental for economic development, innovation, and workforce readiness.
  2. Improving Quality of Life: Economic indicators such as affordable housing and reliable employment opportunities must be considered along with social indicators of well-being, such as measures of community resilience.
  3. Supporting a Rural Workforce: Just as every rural area needs jobs for its residents, every employer needs qualified individuals to fill open positions. Government can help identify that gap, attract available workers, and assist with workforce training.
  4. Harnessing Technological Innovation: By 2050, experts predict the U.S. population will grow close to 400 million. Better technology is needed to increase output across American farmlands.
  5. Developing the Rural Economy: Investing in rural infrastructure will lead to more “Made in America” products available both here and abroad, boosting U.S. global competitiveness in the process.

“No doubt, rural America has struggled under burdensome regulations with no voice in Washington,” Secretary Perdue says. “But under President Trump’s leadership, and with the work of this task force, we can turn that around and restore rural prosperity once and for all.”

In addition to assembling the rural prosperity task force, President Trump has made advancing the agriculture sector a centerpiece of his Administration. His Executive Order on Streamlining and Expediting Requests to Locate Broadband Facilities in Rural America, signed this January, outlines a system to bring broadband infrastructure to overlooked rural communities.

Even sweeping reforms, such as the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that President Trump signed in December, focus on the particular needs of rural America. The tax cuts package allows American farmers to deduct 100 percent of the cost of new equipment in the year they make that investment.

“American farmers and ranchers are the heart and soul of America and they represent the determined, self-reliant character of our Nation,” President Trump wrote in his Ag Day Proclamation last year. “We are proud of American agriculture and we recognize agriculture’s critical role to our Nation’s bright future.”

Time to take care of our American people

Might I suggest that you offer our USA companies, that have manufacturing plants outside of the USA, the added enticement to return to the USA of a zero tax benefit for 10 years. After that date, the tax burden would start to rise until it achieved the normal tax burden. The zero tax would help in offsetting the cost of returning to the USA, building and stocking a plant, and creating its parking areas, et al. Other small businesses would also grow around the plant furnishing the workers with items they would need. Therefore, people would be put to work with jobs that pay a fair stipend and would also create other local businesses that would also hire people. I was horrified when a local food bank mailing informed me that our little and sparsely populated Bedford, PA county has over .3 million looking for food. annually. I can only wonder what that means on a daily basis. There are few businesses here. people work for meager wages. Perhaps the companies could entice the counties and states to join the “new” federal tax into offering zero tax themselves in exchange for the company selecting their area over another. The Democrats are watching. I cannot imagine the Democrats offering this plan unless they knew the Republicans were attempting to do so and the Democrats wanted to offer this plan first. In Democratic controlled north east USA, it could. Spur this idea onward. I already know the Tea Party Patriots support this idea vehemently as I wrote a blog for them years ago during the O’bama era and so many responded positively. Why not you?

Pray for the 2018 elections to give President Trump some support or all his hard work will be down the drain. We need to increase the majority to keep the good things Trump is doing especially the tax decrease and border security.

AGREED! This is the first time in about 30+ years that we have had a president who is concerned for the American PEOPLE. Trump is, of course, not perfect, but he comes the closest in many a year. I’m an old woman – old enough to REMEMBER freedom. I think President Trump will help us to regain some of that freedom — if those $%^&*( RINOs in Congress will let him! They don’t seem to realize we voted for Pres. Trump BECAUSE they have been so ineffectual for so long! I have decided that I will not vote for ANYONE who is/has been either a politician, a bureaucrat, or an educator in the past 30-40 years. I hope we we more Christian businessmen/women (providing they are not “feminists”!) .

I totally agree – William Streigel – every word – I wonder though at these ideas though I totally embrace them – that they do not address the elephant in the room and that is the liberal argument that we need farm labor from MORE immigrant workers than are currently legal and in the country now – their answer is to allow illegal ones to stay – we need to be able to Prove that is not the case…… I believe there are legal workers (including migrant workers farms have traditionally depending on) that can do the work….. but I have no way as a citizen to find the information proving it – Republicans are missing out on really fighting back with facts that can prove the strongest argument of democrats for a need to allow more than the current quota of laborers so farms can operate at their peak production levels.

President Trump, The fake media, as they scratch their heads, are totally unable to understand your supporters, WE THE PEOPLE. WE THE PEOPLE support you because you love America and are loyal to America as much as WE THE PEOPLE. WE are praying for you. WE are behind you 100%. Thank you for fulfilling your campaign promises, despite all the shameful and disgraceful obstructions thrown in your path. WE will fight to keep you in office until 2024.

Trump is a Great President, but it seems these Democrats are so He’ll bent to win in November; during the Mid-Terms, we know they will lie and cheat and pack the boxes with votes and deny Absentee Ballots to be counted; it bad enough. What the Democrats are doing in Sanctuary Cities and States to control the Vote;
Rumors here in Maryland are saying that the Democrats are receiving Drug Cartel Money to fund their Campaigns with! I would be surprised if this was true; since the Democrats are protecting the illegals who smuggle people and Drugs into America it makes perfect sense! Its like a “quid pro quo” one hand helping the other via favorism!

President Trump doing a fantastic job greatest president ever! But 2 things need to happen in the near future, 1 ) the sanctuary cities and their governors need to be taken down if they aren’t the MSM will claim victory and keep that ball snowballing if there aren’t any consequences for their actions . An absolute must. 2) everybody in America needs to turn out to vote in the midterms (and i mean everybody) to keep our president in power and not let these corrupt democrats get a foot hold anymore.

I agree that rural America needs a boost. But we need to get you some help in both houses. The budget you just signed was awful. We need to get rid of programs that are not needed anymore. Also why are we giving money to other countries when we are spending more than we have?

Stop all “Foreign” aid.
Wish I could attach the test all 8th graders had to pass in 1895 in Salina, Kansas.

Today’s grad student couldn’t pass it.

As for rural work forces..the issues are:
1. Today’s people don’t want to work!
2. Employers allow them to play “musical chairs” I never see the same employee for 6 months unless they are 60 yrs old.

3. Parents and schools don’t teach morals manners or “stick to it” skills!

4. One older employee calls them “the minimums” they do it wrong and only enough to squeak by..the put up the wrong prices call in sick and quit.
5. Morals, training skills, policies and procedures need top billing. They know we Need bodies so they can be hired again and again. There are no consequences
Observations:
1 I don’t see kids mowing their own lawns.
2. Shoveling their drives!
3. Raking the leaves!
4. Washing the car!
5. Helping paint a house!

!!!!!!!!!! So where do kids learn the steps of how to do a job?
They all want to write video games and make a million dollars.
We raised our kids to be self maintaining adults.

1. How to do a job
2. How to change the oil
3. How to cook from a recipe
4. How to paint a house
5. How to load a trailer
6. How to change a tire
7. How to do the laundry
8. How to clean
9. How to write a menu and shop for meals
10. How to volunteer
11. How to be respectful
12. How to mind the teachers or those in charge
13. How to pray and read the bible
14.Manners
15.How to pack and move

And many more skills.

Life is a puzzle or a quilt.. if you don’t learn small skills and problem solving and experience failures and growth..you don’t have the practice skills to learn how to id the puzzle pieces, they can’t take failure.
Training evaluation, patience and standards all take time, supervision and skilled trainers.
Most companies “do not invest the time” they plant you IN front of a screen for self learning.

And the biggest thing is that they never test to see how you learn best.
The Square Peg Round Hole syndrome.
Slow cooking is best for the body, slow child rearing is best, building a work force starts at birth, Not at age 16/18.

Try to break an 18 year old horse!
We have no pill for curing Stupid!

Thee USA has allowed so called educators to usurp Parents since the 60’s.
Do we plant water weed and harvest in 24/48 hours! Nope but some training is forced.
And our poor little snowflakes melt.

Turn them in a pasture of 12 bulls and see if they can load them!

Ranch and farm kids use to be our saving grace. Today their parents hire so Johnny can play ball.
So so so sad!

FYI
THAT WAS NOT A BUDGET BILL AT ALL, BUT AN OMNI BUS
AND HE CAN IGNORE EACH AND EVERY PIECE OF CRAP THAT THE SUBVERSIVES
SUGGESTED HE DO. A SUGGESTION IS ALL THAT IT IS. HE CAN DO WHATEVER HE
PLEASES WITH THE TOTAL AMOUNT EVEN IF HE WANTS TO SPEND IT ON M A ND M’S
HE CAN.
HOWEVER, I WOULD NO T BE SURPRISED IF HE USES MOST OF IT TO BRING DOWN THE
DEEP STATE.
ONCE AGAIN HE HAS SHOWN THAT HE IS LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF EVERYONE ELSE
INCLUDING HIS FAIR WEATHER FRIENDS 1

For all posters asking our President not to sign the budget. I must remind you that this is not a budget but rather an omnibus “bill”. Please read the following to learn the difference between a bill and a budget.

Don’t panic. Read this: A friend had this posted and wanted to share

Research the laws, the 1974 law and statutes…. Do you know why the Omnibus is not going to get any notice…Here it is..

It’s not an official ‘Federal Budget’. It’s an Omnibus bill…not a Budget…He outsmarted them again…Congress basically screwed themselves by not passing a Budget…

Per the Constitution…the President must adhere to a Budget set forth by Congress and direct the expenditures as provided therein.

This is another one of those big Porkulus Bills, like they gave Obama for 8 years. This is not a Budget..

An Omnibus Spending Bill may have some ‘instructions’ as to how the money will be spent…but Obama ignored them.
He spent the money, or didn’t spend it, however he wanted to.

And Congress didn’t do a thing about it! Because they couldn’t..

I think our President observed how this happened, year after year.
He is bound to realize that those ‘appropriations’ for different things in these Omnibus bills…are merely ‘suggestions’.

So like Obama, Pres Trump can spend this money on whatever he wants to.
Or…not spend it.

Planned Parenthood?
What if our President decided to tell the Treas Dept to ‘slow-walk’ that money to Planned Parenthood…until the Senate gets off their ass and confirms his appointees?

Sanctuary Cities?
What if our President decided to ‘slow-walk’ that money too…until those Sanctuary Cities assist ICE in rounding up criminal illegal aliens?

Exploding heads? From the Dems and lame stream media? Why yes. There would be a colorful display of exploding heads.

But what could they do about it? Hah.

Our President could just say…’Congress should’ve passed a Budget.’

Done finished…research was done…and it is so very humorous actually….our VSG..just said just give me money for the military and the wall…put anything else you want in it…and those goofballs did.

In this case, as per above….he doesn’t have to spend a dime….because it is not a budget…and even if it was…researched….he could still spend as he pleases…
Congress appropriates….up to the President to spend it…or not….as he pleases..

Again, that is why Obama never had a Budget in his Presidency…Congress did continual Omibus’s and he just took the money….for 8 years…and no one seems to know where it went…

The Republican Leadership in Washington really screwed our President by him to pass the latest Budget. Although Pres. Trump got the Military budget he wanted, the leadership really screwed him. The dems loaded the Bill with their favorite crap, our President signed it anyway because the Military were deprived of necessary funds for the last 8 years. So, it is not only the Dems that are holding our President hostage, but the GOP leadership needs to be replaced. The people are not to expect any less!
